  • Do you provide dispatching services?
Yes. MAC&ME Trucking, LLC partners with some of the most experienced dispatchers in the hot shot trucking industry. Their goal is keep your truck moving. Their profitability is directly tied to yours, so they have a vested interest in making sure you get the best loads available for your particular needs.
  • I prefer to self-dispatch. Where can I go to book loads?
Owner operators also have the option to self-dispatch. DAT and Truckstop are the most commonly used load boards for hot shot drivers. If you have never dispatched yourself before, you will be required to do independent learning. YouTube has multiple videos that will help! Go to YouTube and type in: "How to use DAT or Truckstop load board to book loads for hot shots."
  • What is the lease-on fee?
We charge a very competitive rate of 15% of each load for owner operators who self-dispatch and 25% of the load for those who are company-dispatched. This is taken off the gross rate of the load, NOT what you net after expenses. Factoring is included so you get paid within 1 business day of all required paperwork being submitted.
  • Can I use my own insurance and run loads under your authority?
No. All leased-on owner-operators must be covered under MAC&ME Trucking, LLC insurance policy. Insurance payments are deducted weekly from the first paid load of the week. Insurance payments typically range from $250-$400 per week depending on your equipment. NO DOWN PAYMENT NECESSARY!
  • What type of equipment should I have?
Hot shot setup should include a 3/4 ton (RAM 2500, F250 or similar) or 1 ton (RAM 3500, F350 or similar) pickup truck with a 36-40 ft gooseneck trailer. You should have all the necessary equipment to secure loads such as chains, straps, tarps, dunnage, etc
  • May I have a team driver?
ALL drivers must be approved by our company. Under no circumstances is an unauthorized driver allowed to haul freight under our authority. If an unauthorized driver hauls freight and gets into an accident, no claims will be approved through the carrier's insurance. Legal action may occur.
  • When do we get paid?
Cut-off time for same-day ACH payment is 8:30 am. Cut-off for next business day is 10:30 am. All required rate confirmations and signed BOLs must be submitted by the cut-off time to receive timely payment.
  • Do I need an ELD?
Yes. You will be required to have a physical ELD in your vehicle AND keep a paper log book in the event of ELD malfunction. Drivers are required to be set up with our ELD provider, EZ Logz and the cost of the ELD service will be deducted from driver pay on a monthly basis. The service cost is $35/month. The ELD device is provided at no charge but must be returned to MAC&ME Trucking, LLC in the event of termination of the independent contractor agreement.
  • Would I be an employee or an independent contractor?
If you sign on to drive with us, you would NOT be an employee of MAC&ME Trucking, LLC. Our owner-operators are independent contractors. That means you are your own boss! You can drive as much or as little as you'd like, as long as you drive enough to cover your weekly insurance payment and monthly ELD service fee, you are in complete control of your own schedule.
  • Do you offer fuel advances?
Fuel advances are available and can provide you with up to 50% of the value of your freight bill! This advance can be provided to you within hours of making a request. We just have to verify that the load has been booked, via a rate confirmation and that the load has been picked up via bill of lading (BOL) signed by the shipper. Once the load is verified, funds can be sent to your bank account via ACH transfer. If you request a fuel advance, the lease-on fee increases to 20% of the load for self-dispatched drivers. Fuel advances are included in the 25% lease-on fee for company-dispatched drivers
  • Do I need a CDL to drive with MAC&ME Trucking, LLC?
You ARE NOT required to hold a CDL to drive with us. You must however, have a clean driving record free from accidents and violations in the last 3 years. We specialize in non-CDL hot shot trucking. The combination weight of your truck, trailer and load must be less than 26,000 lbs at all times.
